Mavrud is an old red grape variety cultivated in Bulgaria since ancient times. The birthplace of Mavrud is the area around today’s city of Plovdiv in the Western Thrace wine region.  The name Mavrud is derived from the Greek word “mavro”, which means black. This is probably because the skin of the Mavrud grape is bluish-black.

, produced by the unique Bulgarian variety Mavrud, matured in small barique barrels with ruby-red color and “tile” color nuances.

Aroma:  pleasant blackberry and prune aroma.  Elegant wine. The Mavrud wine develops perfectly in contact with oak and acquires a powerful and complex aroma, supplemented by full-bodied, dense and harmonious taste. Smooth tannin and balanced acids

The aroma is multilevel with nuances of over-burned, smoke, dry leaves, seasoning and reisin.

The taste is with good density and softness. Multilayered, with a long aftertaste.

Food Pairing: Surely not for a vegan dinner. Pairing greatly with a good piece of red meat, with Parmesan sauces and dishes, Italian pasta. And with good company!
